Do I need a boating license?
Virginia law requires a Boater Education Certificate (or equivalent state-issued boating license) for most operators. Don’t have one? The online course is free and takes about 20–25 minutes.
What do I need at check-in?
Bring:
- Photo ID
- Payment card
- VA Boater Education Certificate (or equivalent) (you can email this to info@pleasantslanding.com prior to your arrival & we will have it printed for you)
Is there a security deposit?
Yes. A $500 refundable security deposit is charged when you book. Most deposits are refunded in full within 2–7 business days after your rental through Square, less only fuel, excessive cleaning, or damage (if applicable).
What are your rental hours?
- Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Can we keep the boat out later?
If you rent the boat for multiple days, the boat only has to be returned before we close on the FINAL day of your rental. All single day rentals must be back prior to our closing hours so that we can fill the gas tank, perform final inspection, and store the boat.
What if my plans change?
We ask that if your plans change, you notify us as soon as possible and we will try to get your reservation booked on another date that works for you. If you simply cancel within 72 hours of the start of your booking date, you will forfeit your security deposit. If there is inclement weather, we will also try to reschedule you for another day.
What time can we pick up the boat?
You can pick up the boat once our office opens (9am on weekdays, 10am on weekends). You will likely get a call from us prior to your rental asking for the # in your party and ETA to help us prepare the boats in the best order of the day.
Are your boat rentals dog friendly?
Yes, you may bring a pet (we recommend only one), but we do not supply life vests for the dogs. Also, we ask that you take care with the dogs’ nails on the seats, etc. and the renter agrees to be responsible for any damage done by any pet or passenger during the rental.
How many people can the boats hold?
Most of our luxury pontoon rentals accommodate 11-12 passengers, see boat description for details.
Can we pull a tube?
Yes! Our boats are great for family tubing. Tubes are available to rent separately.
Is fuel included?
No. Boats are returned to our fuel dock for refueling, and fuel is charged based on usage.
Can we take out a boat today?
If we have availability, we would certainly help you book a boat for the same day. Even if the online calendar does not show availability, give us a call at 540-872-4181 and we will do our best to accommodate you.
What if the weather is bad?
If unsafe weather prevents your rental, we’ll work with you to reschedule or discuss available options. Also, if you experience a storm or other weather conditions during the storm, your safety is paramount and we ask that you use your best judgement to wait out storms and give us a call if you have concerns or will be delayed by weather (540-872-4181).
Are life jackets included?
Yes. All required U.S. Coast Guard safety equipment and life jackets are provided.
Where do we return the boat?
Return to our fuel dock for refueling and a quick final inspection. We’ll take care of the rest.
